U.S. Forces assist Korean navy in recovery operation

The U.S. Navy has sent four warships and helicopters to help the rescue and salvage mission for the Korean naval vessel Cheonan.    The Korea Times reports.

North Korean submarine near Cheonan at time of explosion

A 325-ton shark-class North Korean submarine was detected in waters near the naval corvette Cheonan when it sank following an unverified explosion on March 26, a ruling party lawmaker said yesterday.  The Korea Herald reports.

Four South Korean sailors found dead

The bodies of four missing Korean sailors were found by rescue workers on March 31, 2010, the Seoul Times said.  

A local TV station OBS reported that rescue workers recovered four bodies from the South Korean navy vessel Cheonan last Wednesday.

58 of the 104 sailors were rescued from the Cheonan, while  other sailors remain missing, the Seoul Times said.

South Korean Navy sends destroyer to rescue tanker

The South Korean Navy has despatched a destroyer to rescue a South Korean oil tanker hijacked by Somalian pirates.  The Korea Times reports.
